to stand in the Great Hall in Washington, DC’s Old Post Office building is to share a space with Abraham Lincoln. his second inaugural ball was held in the Hall, just weeks before the end of the Civil War; his assassination was imminent. 

Death and rebirth, destruction and renewal embed the space, and a weighted palpable stillness in the grid of the coffins allude to the history and future of the Hall and the building.
